Breathe Easy, Live Well Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program

Amar Garapati - Symphony of Joliet, ILSymphony of Joliet’s comprehensive inpatient respiratory therapy programs are designed to help patients with complex lung disease and other chronic progressive respiratory problems recover and cope more successfully with their conditions. Under the medical leadership of Amar Garapati, M.D., our unique, team approach to pulmonary rehabilitation is individually tailored and designed to optimize physical abilities and independence, while slowing down the progression and the debilitating symptoms of pulmonary disorders.

By combining exercise with education, breathing retraining, nutritional counseling and psychosocial support, we can individualize programs for patients of all ages and successfully treat many common respiratory problems, including:

  • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
  • Asthma
  • Emphysema
  • Chronic bronchitis
  • Cystic fibrosis
  • Interstitial disease
  • Neuromuscular disorders

In-House Hemodialysis

At Symphony of Joliet, our in-house, Outpatient Hemodialysis Department includes: Board Certified Nephrologists, an RN Renal Manager, experienced Hemodialysis Nurses, Certified Renal Technicians, an on-site Social Worker, Dietitian and Biomed specialists. These clinicians are dedicated to working together to provide our patients with personalized care.

Our Symphony of Joliet facility includes a vascular access team, which encourages permanent access placement from admission and beyond, as well as early intervention for sustained access and decreased infection rate. Our 3:1 patient to technician ratio allows us to treat higher acuity patients while still providing quality care. 

Orthopedic Rehabilitation

Symphony of Joliet offers a comprehensive orthopedic rehabilitation program with every therapeutic, clinical and technical resource needed to address a wide range of orthopedic conditions, including:

  • Joint replacement
  • Fractures
  • Cervical and lumbar injuries
  • Arthritis and osteoporosis
  • Amputations

Using a team approach to care, we utilize individual therapies, pain management, strength, balance and mobility training, biomechanical re-education, joint protection and other techniques to restore our guests to their optimum level of functional independence. To compliment these services, our on-staff physiatrist will help coordinate care and rehabilitation to ensure a smooth transition home.

Cardiac Rehabilitation

Our cardiac rehabilitation program promotes optimum recovery and health for patients recovering from heart disease and/or cardiac-related surgery. The goal of the program is to limit the physical effects of cardiac illness and improve cardiovascular fitness and overall health. Each of our Symphony of Joliet cardiac patients receives a program designed specifically for them. That program is supervised and implemented by a team of cardiac specialists, including physicians, nurses, physical and occupational therapists, and consulting nutritional and psychological professionals.

Complex Wound Care

Marius Katillius, M.D. - Symphony of Joliet, ILSymphony of Joliet's complex wound care program, under the medical leadership of Marius Katillius, M.D., offers a holistic plan of care designed for our wound patients. Our staff is trained to anticipate and care for their needs.

A nurse coordinator, assigned to each patient, works closely with family and physician to monitor progress and serve as a resource to address concerns. They collaborate with the discharge physician’s hospital to ensure appropriate follow up care is coordinated upon discharge from Symphony of Joliet.

Our interdisciplinary team, Physician Specialist, Wound Ostomy Nurse, Dietitian, Social Worker, Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Speech Therapist and nursing staff assess and reassess the plan of care. This has reduced our average recovery time and stay by 2 to 8 weeks.
